Why did you decide to become a pediatrician?
I have always loved working with children! It's been a lifelong dream of mine to help others and by working at a children's hospital, everyday there is something to look forward to. Being a pediatrician allows me to help children, whether it's putting a smile on their face or helping with the treatment of a medical diagnosis!

Did you face any struggles being a Muslim woman in this field?
As a woman in any field it can be difficult to be taken seriously. It is important to stand up for yourself, your beliefs and your patients! Working as physician you are a reflection of your faith to your patients, their parents, as well as your coworkers, so it is important to always be the best version of yourself.
What’s your favorite thing about being Muslim?
I loved growing up in a Pakistani Muslim community in Toledo. They say it takes a village to raise a child and the Toledo Muslim Community really helped me grow as a Muslim and as a Physician! In the hospital, being a Muslim has brought me comfort in a lot of difficult situations, diagnoses and patient deaths.
If somebody wants to be a pediatrician when they grow up, what should they do?
