Nasiha means "advice and sincerity" which is part of our tradition as Muslims. We are always trying to give advice to the loved Muslim women in our lives. Whether she's our daughter, neighbor, niece or sister, we want to guide them and help them through their difficult times. Nasiha Hub creates and compiles resources to help you make the best safe space for Muslim sisters.
Bismillah al-Rahman al-Rahim. We were all once teenagers. Being a teenage Muslima can sometimes be tricky. There is so much peer pressure, media influences and decrease in self esteem. Being a Muslim teen can be hard. And so can reaching teens, but once you have the right tools, it can be easier. We aim to create and compile resources to create safe spaces for Muslim Sisters. InshAllah we hope to regularly update our site, keep our content free, and expand, if Allah permits.
Bismillah Al Rahman Al Rahim.
Born and raised in the United States, Alhamdulilah I had both a loving family and a love for Islam; however, growing up in America as a young first generation Muslim woman was not always easy. During the week I attended public middle school as the only Hijabi with no Muslim friends. On Saturdays, I attended an Islamic school where I met another handful of Muslim young women, a couple of which I connected with. I would periodically attend halaqas or community events, but I craved real sisterhood, friendship, and mentorship.
After high school in 2011, I joined the Muslim Student Association, which prompted me to delve deeper into my deen and learn how to plan events. Afterwards, I became involved as a youth group leader at my local Masjid in 2013, and started giving bi-monthly halaqas for young Muslim women ages 12 to 18. Not only did leading halaqas help me understand my deen better and become closer to Allah SWT, but I could tell the girls loved it. The laughs were contagious, the questions deep, and the time spent worthwhile. I continued this for about four years, and after looking at my collection of halaqa notes in my binder, the idea of Nasiha Hub was born. I drafted a plan in 2017 (my original notes pictured), but it would take the 2019 COVID pandemic, and my cancelled vacation plans to start building the website.
SubhanAllah, I want to create a space not only for the young girls in my community, but for all the girls in North America and maybe perhaps the world. It's the space that I craved as a child and teen. I'm not a scholar or have any formal Islamic training, but I try my best to research and use reputable sources as references. Nonetheless, if you see a mistake, please let us know. I pray that Allah SWT accepts my efforts, and I pray that somebody finds this compilation of resources useful. Whether you are a young mother or college graduate trying to create a Muslima safe space, or if you are 14 trying to navigate your way through high school hallways, inshAllah Nasiha Hub can be helpful, Allah permitting.
