Zobaida Falah
Why did you decide to become an entrepreneur?
I’ve always loved the idea of innovation and turning something common into something new and useful to benefit others.
What do you like the most about your job?
I love the fact that my company helps people from the products we produce to the social impact we provide. I also love the flexibility of being my own boss.
What's your normal day like?
I typically wake up at 6am, take my vitamins and water, work out, review and respond to emails, inventory check, check in with fulfillment, have a zoom meeting with my marketing team, social media post, create content which may include filming commercials or photographing products, wholesale fulfillment, and finally accounting. These are things I do at least 4 times a week.
Who is your biggest inspiration?
I don’t have one specific person who I seek inspiration from. I believe that everyone has something positive to offer and so I am always watching and absorbing attributes which I can use to my advantage in work and life.
How was your path becoming an entrepreneur?
I have always found joy in entrepreneurship. As a child, I enjoyed lemonade stands and selling school supplies to my classmates which fueled my passion as an adult. I was a teacher at the time I decided to make the full-time switch to launching a company after being inspired by my students who would come to class eating refined sugars and carbohydrates. I knew I wanted to help change the way people eat and so I started playing around with the black seed and innovated it into a full lifestyle brand.
Did you face any struggles being a Muslim woman in this field?
I never like to dwell on my challenges but rather take each obstacle as an opportunity to learn and improve. While struggles are inevitable, I look at every challenge as a chance to reflect on myself, my presentation, my product and my conduct and if there is room for improvement, then I seize the opportunity.
What’s your favorite thing about being Muslim?
Islam is the perfect set of rules for which we must live our lives. Knowing what is right and wrong makes it very easy to live a dignified life with integrity because the rules are mapped out for us and all we must do is follow. Knowing these rules makes life simpler and significantly reduces complicated decisions.
